Over $6,000 raised for Charities

The day kicked off with a fundraiser lunch, held in honour of Jason Hammond and Chris Burhop.  With the very funny Nelson Brothers running the show, we also heard from our Senior Coach about the upcoming season, and some words from Paul Freestone and Mick Elston who spoke about Whale and Chris, and reminded us all of the legacy of these two great clubmen.

Special thanks go to all involved in putting on the day – especially our major sponsors for the day, Highview Accounting Services.  Thanks to Fit Kitchen who put on a beautiful roast lunch and desert.  Also to all who donated goods, services and time to the day, we can’t thank you enough.  We also thank the Hammond and Burhop families for supporting the day.

The footy kicked off at 2pm, with the Under 19’s game, won by Karingal; the Reserves at 4pm, who claimed the win and finally the twilight practice match of the Seniors at 6pm, who played for the “Whale Cup”.  A fitting tribute for the Devon Meadows boys to come away with the win and the cup.

With the lunch, the footy and entertainment for the kids, we managed to raise just over $6,500 for Orange Pigeon and Kids for Cancer!  We were surprised and elated at the size of the crowd, and look forward to hosting Karingal for a practice match and this great cause next year.
